Petrol stations come in many different sizes

From your small 1 or 2 pump forecourts to motorway service stations that have multiple pumps, food, relaxation areas, hotels for overnight stops.

In the past, petrol stations used to be manned where a forecourt assistant would great you, ask you what fuel you wanted and how much fuel you wanted put into your vehicle, you would pay them on the forecourt and they would bring your change.

Over the year and with modern technology, this system has long since gone.
You now have petrol stations that are shops that sell fuel, rather than a petrol station that might have had a couple of snacks and bits to help keep your car on the road.
Some petrol stations will permit you to pay at the pump by using a credit or debit card. Others by app, but most commonly it is a case of filling up, entering the shop and then paying at the cashiers desk.

Knowing what fuel your vehicle takes is important!

Putting the wrong fuel in your vehicle could end up extremely costly, to the extent it may require you needing a new engine!

If you EVER put the wrong type of fuel in your vehicle, DO NOT START THE ENGINE!!!

Speak to the forecourt operator, they should be able to supply you details of companies that will come and remove the fuel from your vehicle, and then you can refill it with the correct fuel and be on your journey.

The forecourt attendant will usually assist with pushing your vehicle to a location away from the pumps so that other customers can continue to use them, and allow you to wait for the fuel recovery company to arrive and carry out the necessary work to rectify the problem.

It would be far cheaper to have the wrong fuel emptied than having to purchase a new engine or have repairs carried out to your current engine.

Electric charging points.

With the every increasing sales of electric vehicles, charging points are popping up everywhere.
Although not as quick a process to get a full charge as it is to refuel in the traditional method, some of the charging points have quick charge facilities.

Vehicles have different charging sockets, so ensure you are able to use the ones available to suit your vehicle.

Charges per unit vary hugely from location to location and it is ALWAYS cheaper to charge from home, but obviously not always convenient depending on where you are on your journey.
